Back

A renovation of 60 years old  row houses located in the old town of Bangkok, full of  stories and valuable historical elements. The project is to turn these row houses into newly design property compounds including 2 main buildings that connected each to other with a swimming  pool. Front building contains reception , coffee shops and hostel, while the back building contains all-day restaurant and hotel guest rooms.

The design scope is including facade, architecture and interior design. The design concept is to enhance the value of existing elements that comes with the old buildings, such as brick walls and wooden structures.

Then we decided to create new elements that are very clean and modern in order to be contrast with old elements we wanted to keep.

We removed some existing walls and floors in order to let more natural light in and create double space in the entrance area. Some Thai elements were selected to be used in the interior design in a very subtle way, adding  sense of place to the design.

In the end, Lilit Banglumphu finally launched in 2023 as a boutique design hotel located in a very historic neighborhood of Bangkok, welcoming many tourists and backpackers to experience past and future through the design.
